Visit the Honey,Honey Bee Event at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and learn more about bees and tips and tricks on how to have your own bee hive!

Dinner will be served at 7:30pm, and you’ll be given the opportunity to hear the Zoo’s story of transforming their Bowyer Farm in Warren County into a rich, oasis of habitat and wildlife.

Story Telling Spots (open 6:30-7:30pm) Honeybee Overview & Importance – Learn about the natural history of the honeybee, who makes up the hive, and why the honeybee is so integral to our daily lives. The Marvelous Bee (bee biology) – We’ll cover the life cycle and jobs of each bee in the hive, and how the colony works as a single organism. Beekeeping 101 – Hive tools! Smokers! Supers! Hive bodies! Learn the lingo and what it takes to start beekeeping in your own backyard. Planting for Pollinators – How can you create a colorful, tasty buffet for pollinators in your tri-state backyard? Discover bee/plant symbiotic relationships and sign up to take the Zoo’s Planting for Pollinators Challenge. Dinner (7:30-9:30 pm) Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner specifically crafted to honor and celebrate the honeybee and all the sweetness and health benefits it provides. During dinner, Zoo staff will share Bowyer Farm’s story – which includes an active, healthy apiary.
